San Marcos is an extremely volcanic region climaxed through the presence of volcano Tajamulco (4,220m), the highest peak in Central America.
The affection for coffee is evidently pronounced in the region, where European settlers, particularly Germans, greatly influenced in the beginning of the 20th century quality aspects as well as boosting coffee production through the formation of large, commercially aligned coffee farms.
These qualifications, in addition to a rather rainy and cloudy climate, present exceptional conditions, which combined give an astonishing coffee. Specially sorted lots are chosen for our CASTAŅO coffee assuring an outstanding quality out of the San Marcos region.
