Our LA CEIBA coffee comes from a highland valley, where one of Central Americas’s most enchanting colonial cities is sited – Antigua. The city is one of Guatemala’s premier tourist attractions due to its colonial heritage and blessed with spectacular scenery, suspended between three fascinating volcanoes: majestic Agua (3,766m), impressive Acatenango (3,976m) and still active Fuego (3,763m).
This magnificent landscape with tremendous volcanic soil and its unique dry climate provides optimal conditions to produce one of the best coffees in the world. Our coffee is produced by small farmers and processed in the traditional way, which is the basis for the exquisite quality of our LA CEIBA coffee.
According to ancient Maya tradition the Ceiba tree had its particular importance as a holy tree, since the Mayas celebrated their rituals under its branches and leaves. In 1955 it was named one of the national symbols of Guatemala.
